JOHN Howard has warned Australians they risk electing a Labor-Greens alliance that would impose a new national direction and conduct radical experiments with their values and institutions.
In a final-week interview with The Australian, the Prime Minister said the nation faced a "watershed election", where the real issues had been disguised by the me-tooism of Kevin Rudd and in which the workplace reforms of his Government would be lost forever if Labor were elected.
"You talk about checks and balances," Mr Howard said, warning of a Labor victory.
"It would see the least checked and balanced political distribution in the history of the country."
Convinced his hopes of a Coalition win at the weekend are not yet extinguished, Mr Howard said: "Part of my mission this week is to drive home the risk. My every waking hour and every available minute will be to drive home the risk of Labor."
He said a Labor government would mean higher unemployment, higher inflation and a rollback of industrial reforms that would terminate forever hopes of a freer labour market.
Mr Howard warned that a Labor victory would mean a Labor-Greens Senate majority and an era of social re-engineering, with policy changes on drugs, education, social issues and political correctness in conflict with his social conservatism.
"Let me just conjure up what Australia will be if Labor wins on Saturday," Mr Howard said.
"You will have Labor in power at every level. You will have inevitably some Labor-Green majority in the Senate, after June 30.
"There will be a return of political correctness. There will be a softening in relation to things like drugs. You will get a less socially conservative country at the very least.
"I think the country's mood is that people want economic progress but they don't want experiments with our basic values and institutions.
Imagine if you are depending on the Greens to get a measure through the Senate on education. Imagine what they would extract."

This week we dhimmified Britons are required by our socialist government to celebrate a taqiyya-fest known as Islam Awareness Week and rejoice in the vibrant contributions that Muslims have made to our multicultural society . This is my contribution:
The essential and fundamental feature of Islam is a seething, vicious and implacable hatred of all non-believers (kuffars), which no amount of compromise can ever appease. Until both Joe Public and his elected representatives understand this we are defenseless, because we do not know our enemy.
Here's an excerpt from a chilling article from an ex-Muslim on why Muslims hate us and always will hate us no matter what we do.
"The Qur’an teaches Muslims not to be friendly with the non-Muslims or to trust them (1). It also advocates that the non-Muslims are the associates of Satan (2) and warns of severe punishment to those Muslims who try to be in affable terms with the non-Muslims(3). A Muslim convert must not be in congenial terms even with his non-Muslim parents (4) and he is free to murder his parents and kindred (5) if they criticise the convert’s new faith. A true Muslim must follow the Qur’an in complete. Therefore, it is obligatory for him/her to dislike and distrust the non-Muslims.
Even when the unbelievers harbour no enmity or dislike towards the Muslims, they (the Muslims) must not take the unbelievers as friends and allies. The infidels’ unbelief (that is, their refusal to convert to Islam) is the main reason why Muslims must hate them.
Refusal to convert to Islam in itself is considered as an act of hostility and oppression. That is why non-Muslims are open enemies of Islam—nothing, not even their good intentions, could render them friendly towards the Muslims!"

Dear Fortress Oz, I love your naughty post! Yes, a historic disaster is looming as Oz threatens to become totally labour, the Labour that has only changed in the negative, reinforcing it's inherent structural flaws.
Such as only really recruiting from a narrow pool of career party people, Unionists, lawyers and activists. Virtually no genuine business people or Conservatives etc.
Rudd is Mark Latham MK2. Latham was the out of control freak, now Rudd is the control freak without real inner strength. He was mostly a Diplomat, and shows all the qualities and limitations of that peculiar and mostly phoney tenure.
You can see that the Teachers Union, Left activists ad nauseum are straining at the bit to do what they always want to do; control the state and have absolute power, thus they can start to control every aspect of our lives via imposing PC Left mental illness on us all.
