Work Place Emails

It is my firm's computer, not mine. I have always treated my work possessions as tools for my job, not my personal property. If my work doesn't require a computer or email, then I won't be issued with one. I already work for a government department which makes this a condition of using the computer network. And they do monitor it. I use my private email at home/library. No privacy issues arise. It is very simple, don't have private email sent to your work address, and your privacy won't be invaded. It is NOT your computer. This whole thing is a non-event.

Bosses to snoop on emails under terror laws

BOSSES could be given the power to snoop on employees' emails and monitor their internet messaging under a new plan to avert a terrorist attack in Australia.

Federal Attorney-General Robert McClelland has said the new measures, which could be in place as early as next year, would allow companies to intercept staff emails without the consent of workers.
