First They Came for the English Bloggers

I have said a number of times that what I do here would be illegal in some countries in Europe, and that a European citizen doing what I do can be arrested there. Britain is such a country. Its recent laws concerning the incitement of racial and religious hatred have made illegal much of what is published in the Counterjihad blogosphere. And now the first British blogger is about to face the Multicultural perp-walk.

Lionheart is a well-known patriotic blogger in England, and is on our blogroll. He is currently outside the UK, and has been informed that he will be arrested for stirring up racial hatred as soon as he returns home. Here’s what he has to say about it:

The cultural weapon in the hands of the modern Jihad within Great Britain, silencing the opposition using our own laws against us — The Dumb Filthy Kaffir’s as the Moslem would say to his children behind closed doors.

What has become of my homeland, the land my forefathers fought and died for on the battlefields of the world when one of their children is forced into the position of facing years in prison for standing up for what is right and just within British society.

At least my words of truth have obviously now reached people’s eyes and ears, with the powers that be now intent on silencing me — Third World Tyranny in a supposed 21st Century democracy!

Keep an eye on Lionheart’s blog, because he will be posting there concerning the progress of his case. If you’re a blogger, please post about this to help give him as much publicity as possible.Writing letters to Her Majesty’s ambassadors might be a good idea. I’m going to look for a comprehensive list of contact emails, phone numbers, fax numbers, and addresses.

Britain’s anti-incitement laws are well-harmonized with the Framework Decision, which means that the rest of the “provinces” of the EU will have the same laws on the books when the Lisbon Treaty goes into effect and the legal systems are standardized. This is just the beginning.

And don’t think that the United States is immune.

There are people working diligently right now to get laws through Congress which are almost identical in wording to those used by the EU. The First Amendment has become all but meaningless in the last two decades. We are at the mercy of nine old men in black robes who sit in summary judgment on our freedoms.

The election of a Democrat as President along with a Democrat Congress could topple freedom of speech here as surely as it has been toppled in England.

An Update on Lionheart

I reported yesterday on the plight of the English blogger Lionheart, who is facing arrest on a charge of “stirring up racial hatred”.

The blogger GW of Wolf Howling has spoken to Lionheart’s attorney, and confirms that a complaint has been filed against Lionheart with the police. The police are therefore obliged to arrest him pursuant to their investigation.

GW said this in an email to Gates of Vienna:

You can contact Lionheart’s attorney directly at this point if you want more information. Lionheart has approved him discussing the case with third parties. I am just letting you know that Lionheart is really facing prosecution.

And here is an excerpt from GW’s post at Wolf Howling:
I contacted Lionheart to get additional information about his claim that he faced imminent arrest, and he put me in contact with the attorney whom he has retained, Anthony Bennett (ajsbennett@btinternet.com).

I spoke with Mr. Bennett, who confirmed the following facts:

1.
The Bedfordshire police have contacted Lionheart to arrange for him to submit to arrest.

2.
Lionheart querried the police to find out why he would to be arrested. A Bedfordshire police officer sent Lionheart an e-mail, forwarded to me by Mr. Bennett, which read in pertinent part:
The offence that I need to arrest you for is “Stir up Racial Hatred by displaying written material” contrary to sections 18(1) and 27(3) of the Public Order Act 1986.

You will be arrested on SUSPICION of the offence. You would only be charged following a full investigation based on all the relevant facts and CPS consent.

3.
Mr. Bennett adds “There are already a number of aspects about this case involving not only ‘Lionheart’ but concerning other friends of his which are almost certain to result in a complaint being made to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.”

4.
There has been nothing filed yet by the police that will tell us precisely what blog posts they will be using to prosecute Lionheart. The precise basis for the complaint will only become known after the arrest. Further, we do not yet know who was responsible for making a complaint to the police.

The Public Order Act of 1986 makes it an offense to “stir up racial hatred.” The act defines “racial hatred” as “hatred against a group of persons defined by reference to colour, race, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origins.” The law does not define the word “hatred.” The specific provisions of the Public Order Act of 1986 mentioned by the police in their e-mail to Lionheart are:

(1)
A person who uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or displays any written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting, is guilty of an offence if —

(a)
he intends thereby to stir up racial hatred, or

(b)
having regard to all the circumstances racial hatred is likely to be stirred up thereby.

(3)
A person guilty of an offence under this Part is liable —

(a)
on conviction on indictment to imprisonment for a term not exceeding seven years or a fine or both;

To call this law a gross assault on freedom of speech would be the height of understatement. It criminalizes the content of speech and it applies a wholly subjective threshold — “hatred” — for finding guilt. This law would be unconstitutional in the U.S. This is ironic because our 1st Amendment freedoms of speech and the press derive from British common law as it existed in 1776. Yet Britain never adopted a written Constitution, thus setting the stage for the modern day socialists to silence and stifle free speech by merely passing laws through Parliament.

A bad day for the UK....who's NEXT?

Once again, we see the danger of Political Correctness.

When it first reared its ugly head (~25 years ago?) We thought it was just silly. Then it advanced to the "annoying" stage.

Ultimately, it wormed its way into education and became institutionalized. It started to erode the core values of our society from the inside, in the guise of eliminating discrimination of all kinds.

Now, we're beginning to see this horrific tree bearing it's ultimate, deadly fruit. We see a populace that is afraid to speak openly about a lethal threat for fear of being labeled as racists or fill-in-the-blank-phobes.

As we ultimately eat this poisonous fruit, we see citizens of what are ostensibly advanced western countries being PROSECUTED for their beliefs!

This is the time for all men of good will to stand up to fight back. This is the time to deluge your representatives, senators, MPs or whoever is in your government to repeal suicidal laws like this. This is the time for men of good will to actively work to defeat those who support such nonsense.

And most of all, for those who are able, this is the time for men of good will to run to fill those offices.

How many times do we need to hear the famous admonition from Edmund Burke; "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing"

Start now. Do something in the cause of defeating Political Correctness and the Islamofascism that is using its proponents as a useful tool to infiltrate our societies.
