Strict legal measures fail to prevent honour killing

Despite of a large number of women rights movement across the globe it seems that the larger portion of the fruits of women rights have gone to the woman of the western world while their sisters, especially in the Islamic world still remain deprived behind the veil of anonymity.

For a society that treats its women as wealth to be possessed and kept fettered inside the secure environs of home, Nadia Abu Amar, an Israeli Arab’s desire for freedom cannot be tolerated. So even by escaping from her home in Ramle to a women’s shelter in Jerusalem she could not save herself from being killed by the male relatives of her family in the name of salvaging the family honour.

And the western feminists are largely against nations like America and Australia freeing their counterparts in the Arab world through war and liberation. Obviously they have much better methods to bring this freedom to these women, just waiting to see it actually working.

MK....Also brings back memories of the Vietnam war. Jane Fonda, the actress, turned up in North Vietnam one day sitting on a anti aircraft gun. Her beef at the time? To embarass the American government. Made the news, but the Americans ignored her protest.

The feminist movement has run it's course, but like any good idea at the time it gets overdone. There are some very misguided women out there in cloud cukoo land at the moment, who believe they are doing their cause good. If only they could step out of the box to see just how foolish they have become. Terry
