THE parents of fallen Australian commando Luke Worsley have paid an emotional tribute to their son.
John and Marjorie Worsley released a statement yesterday saying their brave son had made the "ultimate sacrifice" for the country he loved.
"He loved the army, its discipline, training and spirit," they said.
"Our son chose his profession and, as fate would have it, he paid the ultimate sacrifice.
"We are extremely proud of our boy and we know we lost him doing a job he was trained for and loved doing."
Pte Worsley, 26, was killed in a raid on a Taliban bomb-making centre in Afghanistan. Three civilians and a number of Taliban also died.
His body will be flown home late this week to his family, which includes his parents, three sisters, a brother, two nieces and two nephews and his girlfriend.
Pte Worsley is the third Digger to die in action in Afghanistan in seven weeks and the fourth Australian soldier to die since the Afghan campaign began in late 2001.
